History

A Vision for a Connected Buckhead.

PATH400 is the first step toward the implementation of the Buckhead Collection, a planned
network of 106 acres of parks and trails in the neighborhood.

Livable Buckhead is spearheading the PATH400 project in partnership with the
Buckhead Community Improvement District and the PATH Foundation.

Origins of the Path

For decades, the GA 400 highway carved a stark division through the heart of Buckhead. A once-thriving community was split in two, leaving an enduring scar on the city’s landscape.

Today, that scar is healing. PATH400 is more than just a trail; it's a transformative vision brought to life. This 5.2-mile green corridor is stitching Buckhead back together, creating a vibrant hub for residents, workers and visitors alike.

Envisioned as the spine of Buckhead’s growing park system, PATH400 offers a haven for outdoor recreation, connecting neighborhoods, schools and businesses as well as the Atlanta BeltLine to the south and Sandy Springs to the north. It’s a place to walk, bike, run or simply relax, fostering a stronger sense of community. The PATH400 trail project will reinvent the GA 400 corridor by reconnecting a community previously divided in half by the highway.

Over the years

Get to know the path over the past 10 years.

Working toward the mission laid out by Atlanta City Councilman Howard Shook and undertaken by a partnership comprised of Livable Buckhead, the Buckhead Community Improvement District and the PATH Foundation, this GA 400 trail brings together some of Buckhead’s most notable community leaders with the Southeast’s most experienced trail builders with a single unified vision: redefining what a city street can be.
